This has started happening for most wordpress.com blogs I try to view. They load fine in Firefox and Chrome but in Safari I get 'safari can't open the page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection'. I have Safari 6.1.2. I've tried deleting cookies.plist from my Library, emptying the cache and restarting; no joy. Any suggestions please?

Having worked in ICT-Security, I fret a great deal about people suggesting turning off or removing anti-virus software. These would be exactly the suggestions that virus-spreaders, malware purveyors etc would make.
No good solution can begin by suggesting removing security protections.
Not helpful and doesn't work. Can somebody supply a proper fix please.
I fixed this by going into System Pref, Network, deleting the Wifi option and setting it back up again.

NOR SOLVED! This help only momentarily. After the next login this same error occurs again.
Tried numerous solutions in settings from network to proxy and pasting in Terminal box and many more, nothing worked. I finally found one that said to disable any type of anti virus software and I disabled Kisparsky and Bingo , My Mac is Back. Please pass along this may help someone else.
The only solution that worked for me was changing Apache server configuration of the <virtualhost> that was failing, by increasing the amount of time the server should wait for subsequent requests on a persistent connection, using the following directive:
KeepAliveTimeout 15
By default it's 5, which made it fail all the time.

I had to uninstall Norton Security before my Safari Browsing returned back to normal - nothing else worked! Thanks very much!
Depending on the client more browsers had this problem
Some with IE, others with Chrome.
I finally turned off keep alive in all browsers with htaccess
BrowserMatch ".*" nokeepalive
